  • For almost every woman, menstruation is a necessary evil. It is mandatory to have this monthly discharge of blood in order for your reproductive system to function normally. However, menstruation can be accompanied by a number of hazards: cramps, headaches, depression, mood swings and the list goes on. Below, I have discussed a few changes that you can introduce to your daily life to make sure that you do not suffer from these maladies during your period.

Exercise: Over-exercising may cause irregular periods. However, moderate exercises, done regularly, can do wonders to combat menstrual problems. You should also include yoga in your exercise routine. Remember, during menstruation, doing inversions such as ‘sarvangasana’ (shoulder stand), ‘shirshasana’ (head stand) and ‘halasana’ (plough pose), are not advisable as they obstruct the downward flow of blood. You should always practise yoga under the supervision of a qualified.

Diet: Constipation and a high level of toxin in your body may aggravate menstrual problems such as cramps. Therefore, you should have a lot of fiber-rich foods, green leafy vegetables and plenty of water before and during your period. Avoid red meat, fried food, and dairy products. Also, try to reduce your salt and sugar intake. Tea, coffee, alcohol and smoking may worsen menstrual cramps by disturbing your hormonal balance. Therefore, it is best to avoid them at least during your period.

Go cotton: Use chemical-free, cotton sanitary napkins or tampons to avoid vaginal infection. Try to wear cotton or silk undergarments.

Be prepared: Buy your provisions such as napkins or medicines much before your period is due rather than rushing to the drugstore as soon as your period starts. Always keep a sanitary napkin or tampon in your handbag so that you do not need to panic if you are outside your home and your period starts earlier than you expected. Schedule your work in such a way that you do not have a heavy workload during the time when your menstruation is due.

Regunova: Certain herbs can help you combat all menstrual problems effectively. Regunova is a supplement that combines many such herbs to help you treat period cramps or menstrual blues without resorting to chemical medicines. You can definitely try Regunova for a happy, pain-free period.
