Causes and Treatment of Body Odor
Body odor is the result of bacteria being present in perspiration, primarily in the groin and underarm areas. Perspiration works to balance out the body’s temperature by helping it to release excessive heat and cool itself down. When perspiration can’t evaporate, bacteria forms and body odor results.
Causes of Body Odor
• Medical conditions (such as kidney and liver disease, fungal infections, low blood sugar, diabetes)
• Alcohol use
• Tobacco use (of the smoking and chewing variety)
• Dental problems
• Dental decay
• Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
• Poor hygiene
• Heavy physical activities and sports
• Toxins (in the home, diet, or environment)
• Stress
• Hormones (especially during menopause)
• Medications – certain types of medications will cause odors to be released through the body
Symptoms of Body Odor
• Nervousness
• Agitation
• Heavy perspiration
Healthy diets
Eat a healthy and nutritious diet and be sure to include green, leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, and grains. Reduce intake of processed and refined foods (such as white sugar, white flour, sweets, and cola drinks).
Supplements
Zinc – helps to balance metabolism and reduce body odors and magnesium – combined with vitamins A and B, is used to effectively fight perspiration
• Tomato juice – pour 2 cups into bath water and soak for at least 15 minutes
• Apple cider – use with vinegar to battle perspiration (apply under arms)
• Eat parsley – to neutralize odors
• Rosemary – mix with water and apply to underarms
• Turnip juice – use under arms for odor
• Hydrogen peroxide – mix with water and use to wash underarms
Helpful Tips
Take steam baths (to cleanse body of bacteria), use anti-bacterial, scented, or deodorant soaps to fight odor, use baking soda in place of deodorant under arms, use vinegar or alcohol under arms, use baby powder or talc to fight odor and dry up perspiration, reduce caffeine intake, take daily baths, avoid tight clothing and wear loose garments, eliminate meat and processed foods from diet and wear cotton clothing whenever possible (especially socks and shirts or blouses)

my top tip is to avoid hot drinks when out and about. A hot drink will increase you body temperature and cause perspiration. Simply stick to fruit based juices if you want cool.
