  • High blood pressure is the silent killer of our modern times.  Also called hypertension, it occurs whenever the adrenaline in the bloodstream increases; adrenaline causes a rise in blood pressure.  High blood pressure also results when our capillaries (small blood vessels) narrow.

    Blood pressure itself is created when the heart pumps blood into the large arteries of the body.  The force the heart exerts creates pressure in the arteries and is known as blood pressure

    If we aren’t careful, the demands and fast pace of the lives we lead could easily lead to hypertension.

    Causes  of High Blood Pressure
    The causes of high blood pressure are excessive salt intake, obesity, stress and emotional pressures, hormone fluctuations (among women), use of tobacco products, and drinking excess amounts of alcohol.

    Symptoms of high blood pressure
    Among the most common symptoms of high blood pressure are headaches, pressure in the ears (causing ringing or static noises), mild mental problems (feeling confused and disoriented), feelings of dizziness or weakness, and loss of appetite.

    Home remedies for High Blood Pressure
    Mix 1 tablespoon of fresh Indian Gooseberry juice with 1 tablespoon of honey and take each morning to relieve hypertension; coat several garlic pieces in raisins and eat to lower blood pressure; squeeze half a lemon into water and drink the mixture every 2 hours for hypertension.

    Mix 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds with water and take every morning on an empty stomach for 1 month; mix onion juice with an equal amount of honey and take 2 or 3 tablespoons each day to lower blood pressure; combine 4 basil leaves with 2 Neem leaves.  Add 3 teaspoons of water and take on an empty stomach for 7 days.

    Eat baked potatoes to lower blood pressure; eat grapefruits to tone the arteries, as well as to lower blood pressure; eat fresh papayas on an empty stomach to reduce hypertension and lower blood pressure; eat watermelon for hypertension.

    Helpful Tips
    Walk 30 minutes each day to improve blood circulation and to lower or maintain blood pressure; use hot packs on the heart area to lower blood pressure; practice yoga exercises; stop using tobacco products; reduce alcohol intake.
