Causes and Treatment of Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis, or TB, is a common disease that affects a person’s lungs. The disease is caused by the mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. The germ enters the individual’s nose, mouth or windpipe and travels down into the lungs. While the lungs are the primary organ affected by tuberculosis, this disease can also affect a person’s central nervous system, lymphatic system, circulatory system, gastrointestinal system, and even their bones and joints. The bacteria are spread through the air when a person with tuberculosis sneezes or coughs without covering their nose or mouth. Tuberculosis was once a fatal illness but can now be treated medically or even at home.
What are causes of tuberculosis?
Tuberculosis can be precipitated by a person’s personal habits or by coming in contact with an infected person. People who drink too much alcohol or smoke are susceptible to tuberculosis. An unhealthy lifestyle made up of a poor diet, malnourishment, stress, and lack of sleep can predispose individuals for the illness. People that have a weakened immune system are more likely to contract the illness. A person can also get tuberculosis from exposure to cold or contact with the mycobacterium bovis bacteria, spread when an infected person sneezes, coughs or spits near them.
What are symptoms of tuberculosis?
When a person first gets tuberculosis they usually cough and suffer respiratory problems that are coupled with a fever, chills, night sweats, fatigue, and body aches. As the illness progresses, the person may cough up blood or see blood in their sputum. The illness can also cause a person to lose their appetite.
Home remedies.
Asafetida is commonly used to treat tuberculosis. It can be incorporated into many mixtures to treat the illness. To make a mixture, add 5 grams of asafetida to 10 grams of camphor, 10 grams of kattha and 10 neem leaves. Add the juice from holy basil. Stir the mixture until it becomes a paste. Now take the paste and roll it into small tablets. Dip the tablets into rose essence and take them three or four times a day.
Another asafetida mixture includes 10 pieces of asafetida and 10 pieces of black pepper fried in ghee. Add a little opium to the mixture. Take the mixture and make small tablets out of it. Take one tablet with water every six hours.
