Consuming high calorie carbohydrates, saturated fats, oil and sugary foods in excess is one of the main causes of obesity.

As you consume more calories and burn less of them you fall prey to weight problems. Having too much body fat makes you prone to various diseases such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep apnea, stroke and arthritis. It can also result in a number of psychological problems such as depression and inferiority complex due to the stigma attached to being obese.

    Causes of obesity:
Obesity is caused by various factors such as overeating, sedentary lifestyle, hereditary factors and hormonal imbalance. There is no overnight cure for obesity it develops slowly over the years and can be fought gradually.

    How to control obesity?
A sensible long range diet, exercise and perseverance lie at the core of an effective weight reduction program. Consciously, you must avoid the intake of junk food and burn up your calories by skipping, walking, running, jogging, dancing and aerobics. Exercising not only helps shed those extra ounces of body fat but also builds up your stamina and keeps you energetic.

Diet: A number of individuals go in for crash diet courses and spend thousands of dollars at fitness centers in a hope to shed those extra calories. But these diets are hard to maintain and fail to work in the long run. The best way to loose weight in a healthy manner is by cutting down on red meats, avoiding overcooked foods and eliminating all foods containing preservatives, fat and artificial flavor. Intake of soft drinks, cheese, salt, butter, alcohol and caffeine should be restricted. You must include loads of raw vegetables and salads, cereals, fish, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt and skimmed milk in your diet.

Water: If you are looking to shed weight you must consume 8- 10 glasses of water everyday. This helps keep the body hydrated, eliminates the harmful toxins from the system and enhances digestion and metabolism. This results in weight loss and goes a long way in benefitting the overall health of the body.
