Effective natural treatments for obstipation
Obstipation is a severe form of constipation. The person who develops obstipation has extreme difficulty in passing stool and has tendency to vomit. If you are suffering from obstipation, your abdomen area can become very tender and you can have a very infrequent bowel movements, probably only a couple of times each week or less. This may make you feel full all the time and kill your appetite completely.
Diet plays a major role in both constipation and obstipation. Sometimes these diseases are direct causes of having the wrong kind of food for a very long time. Having mostly low fiber food along with less amount of water is a common cause to develop either of these ailments. Remember, processed food, mild products, potato chips, chocolates, pizzas and other fast foods do not have much fiber in them. To cure obstipation, try to steer clear of these foods. Have whole grain breads, oatmeal, green salads, raw vegetables, fruits and plenty of water.
A brief apple fasting is said to be an effective method to treat obstipation. In order to do this, first you need to prepare your bowel for the fasting by having very light meals one whole day. From the next day onwards have nothing but apples, apple juice and water for three consecutive days. You should consume at least 5 apples and 1 liter of apple juice every day. From the fourth day, you can resume your regular food habit.
Have some exercises on a regular basis. The exercise routine may consist of walking, cycling, and swimming, playing tennis or any such activity for at least 30 minutes. This is extremely important to have your food digested properly and to have regular bowel movements. Doing yoga regularly also helps to cure obstipation. There are certain yoga postures that help bowel movements such as ‘Vajrasana’, ‘Pawanmuktasana’ and ‘Viparitakarani’.
You can have herbs such as haritaki or triphala in the form of dietary supplements to treat obstipaiton. Both these herbs are extremely effective to cure many digestive diseases including constipation and obstipation. It is scientifically proved that both haritaki and triphala have mild laxative properties and have antioxidant qualities that help them combat effectively the root causes of obstipation.
