    Flatulence is the presence of excessive gas in the digestive tract. These gases are expelled from the intestine by a reflex action with a sound and a foul smell through the anus. These gases cause discomfort as well as pain because of bloating. In addition, they are also likely to cause embarrassment socially.

    What causes Flatulence?

    Flatulence is a common problem resulting because of the consumption of certain foods. If your digestive system is not capable of digesting specific types of foods it causes flatulence. This can occur because of intolerance to lactose, foods that are grain based and foods that are having high carbohydrate content.

    What are the natural home remedies for Flatulence?

    Flatulence is not a major problem and is curable at home using natural means. Some of the natural home remedies for flatulence are detailed in the following paragraphs.

    First and foremost thing is to adhere to the basics while eating your meal; the food has to be eaten slowly and it has to be chewed thoroughly. Never gulp your food. These precautions will prevent the occurrence of flatulence.

    Add the following ingredients to one cup of medium hot water and drink.
    o Ginger powder, Dry – ½ tsp
    o Asafetida – one pinch
    o Rock salt – one pinch

    Add brandy (two tsp) to one cup of water that is lukewarm and drink in the night before sleeping. Cut ginger into slices and soak it in lemon juice; chew after having your meal. Add one drop dill oil to one tsp of honey; take after every meal.

    Grind the following items, mix them and add half tsp of the mixture to water; drink this one hour post meal.
    o Pepper – one tsp
    o Dry Ginger – one tsp
    o Cardamom seeds – one tsp

    Peppermint can be taken for curing flatulence. Peppermint tea, anise tea, caraway tea and spearmint tea can be taken for flatulence treatment. Avoid foods and drinks such as beans, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, breads, cheese and carbonated drinks. Avoid drinking water either during meals or fifteen minutes after the meals.

      I have terrible farting problem. I am a college teacher with a busy schedule and I appreciate all the serious help you are offering. My farts smell awfully bad and I am unattractive as well which is very depressing. Janet Headley
