Get rid of lack of sleep
The term insomnia literally refers to a complete lack of sleep. It is, however, used to indicate a relative inability to sleep that consists of difficulty in falling asleep, difficulty in remaining asleep for longer duration, early final awakening, or combinations of one or more of these complaints. This disease has assumed alarming proportions in the present times, especially among the upper classes of the society in the urban set-up.
Curd is beneficial for insomnia. The patient should consume plenty of curd and massage it on the head too. This will really induce sleep.
Hot milk is very valuable in insomnia. A cup of hot milk, sweetened with honey, should be taken every night before going to sleep. It acts as a tranquillizer and a tonic. Massaging the milk over the soles of the feet before going to bed has also been found effective.
A hot tea made from aniseed is useful in sleeplessness. This tea is made by boiling about 350 ml of water in a vessel and adding a tablespoon of aniseed. The water should be covered with a tight lid and allowed to simmer for nearly fifteen minutes. It should then be well strained and drunk warm or hot. The tea may be sweetened with honey for taste. This aniseed tea should be taken after meals or before going to bed.

Brahmi bacopa assists in heightening mental ability and support the psychological process involved in relaxation. Bacopa is considered as the main rejuvenating herb for nerve and brain cells and therefore plays an important role in Ayurvedic therapies for the treatment of cognitive disorder of aging. Brahmi also work as safe and natural sedative and tranquility agent and hence it offers protection against convulsion and is also beneficial as insomnia.
Honey is useful in the treatment of insomnia. It has a hypnotic action and induces sleep. It should be consumed with water, before going to bed, in doses of two tablespoons in a large cup of water. Babies are given a teaspoon of honey and they fall asleep after having it soon.
