Healthy diet to prevent Hypertension

  • Following a healthy eating plan can both reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure and lower an already elevated blood pressure.

    A high-fiber diet has been shown to be effective in reducing and treating many types of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension. The water soluble gel-forming fibers such as oat bran, apple pectin, psyllium seeds, and guar gum are highly beneficial

    A key to healthful eating is choosing foods lower in salt and sodium. Studies show that people in countries that use a great deal of salt in their daily meals tend to have higher blood pressures than people in countries that use little salt.

    A typical vegetarian diet contains vitamin C and vitamin A, fiber, calcium, magnesium, complex carbohydrates, potassium, polyunsaturated fat, all of which may have a favorable influence on blood pressure. So Vegetarians, in general, have lower blood pressure levels and a lower incidence of hypertension and other heart diseases.

    Saffron contains a chemical named crocetin that reduces the blood pressure. Use saffron in your cooking for coloring. It is a very famous spice in Arabic cooking.

    Add a pinch of saffron in the brewed tea to give a nice flavor.

    Tomatoes contain a perfect compound for reducing blood pressure. Take potato on daily basis.

    Celery is best suited for lowering high blood pressure. There is some experimental evidence that shows that celery is beneficial for reducing blood pressure. For that including a few celery stalks is beneficial in lowering blood pressure in human beings.

    Garlic makes wonders for curing heart diseases. It has good effects in all cardiovascular system including blood pressure. Garlic reduces diastolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Eating garlic daily was found to have beneficial effects on managing hypertension. Use garlic in your daily diet, cooking, salad, soup, pickles, etc.

    Ashwagandha supplements

    Ashwagandha supplements can restore the neurotransmitters and hence can be used in various mental disorders. Ashwagandha can be used by both men and women and it acts to calm the mind and it is beneficial in stress related disorders such as mental or physical strain and hypertension.
