  • Hair is made up of protein known as keratin and is regarded as one of the most vital beauty assets of an individual. Everybody wishes to have lustrous tresses but few are able to maintain the strength and vitality of their hair due to various factors such as pollution, exposure of the hair to harsh chemicals, intake of certain medicines, dietary deficiencies and hereditary factors. Various hair problems such as hair loss, dandruff, thinning of hair, premature graying of hair and frizzy hair tend to attack us at various stages of life. If you are looking to cultivate a healthy mane you must follow a hair care routine on a daily basis. Beautiful hair indicates good health and flatters your features, face and skin. Therefore, it is necessary for you to take proper care of your tresses and protect it from external as well as internal damage.

    How to get healthy hair?

Diet plays a vital role in hair care and a faulty diet results in lifeless dull looking hair. Each strand of hair is made up of keratin therefore, it is important for you to take a diet that is rich in quality proteins. Vitamin A and D and Biotin are also essential for maintaining healthy hair. Yogurt, cottage cheese, fish, liver, carrots, butter and green leafy vegetables should be included in your diet. You can also add about 10 g of gelatin in a glass of tomato juice for nourishing the hair.

    Massage for your scalp:
A good scalp massage improves blood circulation and helps fight split ends. You can use almond oil, aloe oil, coconut oil or olive oil for massaging your scalp twice a week. This will keep your hair looking shiny and will add bounce to it. A good scalp massage also helps strengthen the roots and alleviates stress, a major factor that triggers hair loss.

    Herbs for healthy hair:
One of the best hair tonics for healthy hair is chamomile. Take one cup dried chamomile flowers and steep them for about 15 minutes in boiling water. Cool and use it as a rinse after shampooing your hair to restore luster and enhance the natural highlights of your tresses.

Sage is also highly effective for weak hair and helps strengthen it. It can be used as a final rinse to strengthen the hair roots. Thyme is another herb that can be used for strengthening your tresses. Take 4 tsp of dried thyme and boil for 10- 15 min in 2 cups of water. Massage the scalp with it and leave it on for 1- 2 hours. Rinse with lukewarm water.
