Herbal cure for indigestion

Indigestion is one of the most common ailments and can be triggered by poor eating habits, consumption of stale or rotten food and overeating. Indigestion is caused when the body is unable to break down and assimilate foods. The symptoms of indigestion include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, acidity, loss of appetite, stomach ache, heartburn, lethargy, fatigue, headache, pain in the lower legs and growling in the stomach. Consumption of fried foods or meats in excess, eating ill-assorted foods, intake of too much tea or coffee, smoking, lack of sleep, stress, tension, and intake of certain drugs can cause indigestion.

Herbs for treating indigestion:
Chamomile
is an excellent herb used to treat indigestion. It stimulates the gastric juices and is great for the liver. Individuals suffering from constant indigestion can take chamomile tea to get relief from indigestion.

Bitter herbs such as Angelica, gentian and centuary help promote digestion by releasing the gastric juices in the body.  Teas made from these herbs taken before meals can help treat heartburn, bloating and stomachache.

Ginger is a gastrointestinal stimulant and helps treat problems such as flatulence, indigestion and worms. Taking ginger dietary supplements on a daily basis can help treat indigestion.


Kutaj
or Holarrhena antidysenterica is a powerful herb that is used to treat dysentery and diarrhea. It is available to it as herbal dietary supplement twice a day to treat chronic dysentery or diarrhea, intestinal and hepatic amebiasis and other digestive problems.

Take ginger powder, black pepper, mint, asafetida, anise seeds, cumin, coriander and common salt in equal amounts and make a fine mixture. Take 1 tsp of this powder everyday with water after meals to promote digestion.

Add the juice of 1 lemon to 1 glass of water and drink this thrice a day to treat indigestion.
