Herbal Remedies for tennis elbow
What is tennis elbow? It’s a term I’m sure you have heard over and over again but do you really know what it means? It is a condition caused when the tendons (usually in the hand or lower arm) become inflamed and cause great pain.
A person affected with tennis elbow usually has difficulty holding anything in their hands, thereby causing the affected hand to be temporarily inflexible and somewhat rigid.
Causes
Some of the most common causes of tennis elbow are stress and tension; tendon, muscle, or ligament trauma; overusing the muscle and/or tendon; injury to the elbow itself; extraordinary pressure on the elbow area.
Home remedies for tennis elbow
Treat sore elbows with flax seeds, eat celery or drink celery juice for pain; mix several drops of celery extract in warm water and drink the resulting mixture; use calendula oil to massage the affected elbow (2 times each day); use heat compresses on the affected area to reduce pain and inflammation.
Eat fresh pineapple or drink the juice from the fresh pineapple; prepare a poultice using ginger and apply it directly to the affected area; use cold compresses to numb the area and reduce inflammation; rub avocado oil on the affected area for pain relief; use aloe vera hand cream each day for temporary pain relief.
Beneficial diets
Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acid to help reduce inflammation (fish, such as trout or mackerel); make sure to include nuts, fresh berries (especially blueberries), whole grains, cereals, green tea, cabbage, celery, milk, eggs, and cheese in your diet.
Useful tips
Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water (8 to 10 glasses each day), use elastic bandages for support if you must use the affected tendon.
If you have a job requiring you to use the affected area frequently (such as typing, data entry, etc.), be sure to take frequent breaks so that you don’t overuse the tendon and make it sorer – try to develop a different routine so that you don’t do the same tasks over and over again.
