Shingles also known as herpes zoster is a disease caused by virus which causes chicken-pox. This virus lies idle in your nerves for years after you have chicken-pox and may appear as shingles in later years. Shingles is not a spreading disease. Early signs and symptoms are usually appear on one side of the body which includes burning, tingling, rashes, itching, shooting pain and blisters. Low immunity to infections is also a cause for developing this disease.

Crush two aspirins into powder mix with 2 tablespoons of acetone containing nail polish remover. Apply this mix on the affected area with a clean cotton ball. Do not allow the mix to spread; there is a chance of burning. Aspirin is effective for desensitizing the affected nerve and acetone will help remove dead skin, dirt and soil.

While taking bath, add baking soda to your bath tub and take a lukewarm water bath. It has a soothing effect on the blisters. You can also use oatmeal instead of baking soda.

Calamine lotion is an effective drying agent to heal the pain and can stop the flow. Calamine lotion mixed with alcohol can be applied on the blisters to heal the blisters.

Hygienic is more important to prevent infections. Clean the blisters regularly with mild soap and water but do not cover them. If there is any open sores treat them first.

Shingles are caused due to lack of immunity power. Multivitamins supplements containing zinc, B-complex vitamin and vitamin c are helpful in curing this disease.
