Home Remedies for Cough
Coughing can be defined as the act of expelling air from the lungs suddenly and noisily; this is mostly done in order to ensure that the respiratory passages are made free from irritating material. Cough can either be productive or non-productive.
Phlegm is produced from your lungs in the productive cough, whereas the non-productive cough is dry. Acute cough lasts for a limited number of days, whereas chronic cough can last for a number of weeks. All age groups can be affected by cough. Cough is treatable at home. The following are the home remedies for cough.
Home Remedies for Cough
• Black pepper has to be stuffed inside a cut lemon; suck this.
• Grind white pepper; add a small quantity of this powder to one spoon of honey and take this twice or three times a day for 4-5 days.
• Increase the consumption of grapes since grapes are capable of toning up your lungs and can function as expectorant.
• Mix 1 to 2 grams of black pepper, dry ginger and long pepper and add it to honey; take this mixture for two or three days.
• Garlic is useful for curing cough; increase garlic consumption.
• Mix the following ingredients, make paste and ingest it everyday once:
o Red pepper – quarter teaspoon
o Ground ginger – quarter teaspoon
o Apple cider vinegar – one tablespoon
o Honey – one table spoon
o Water – two tablespoons
• Dry cough can be cured by gargling with warm spinach juice.
• Mix cuscus grass in coconut milk (3 to 4 teaspoons) and add honey (1 teaspoon); drink before going to sleep. This is useful for dry cough.
• Grind 100 gm of raisins with some quantity of water and add 100 gm of sugar; heat until it becomes a sauce. Ingest 20 gm every night before going to sleep.
• Add holy basil and aniseed to a tea and drink twice a day.
• Remove brown cover from almonds soaked overnight; add 20 gm butter and sugar and make it into a paste. Ingest twice in the morning and evening.
• Chewing basil leaves (4 no) and black pepper will cure cough.
• Mix onion juice with honey and drink two to three times a day.
• Crush onions; add juice from one lemon and add this to one cup boiling water. Add honey and drink two to three times a day.
• Boil 10 gm of Sprague in 500 gm of water for fifteen minutes; add salt (two pinches) and gargle twice a day. This clears mucous and soothes your throat.
• Put one teaspoon of Marjoram in one cup of boiled water; drink after 15 minutes. Take three or four times a day.
