  • Blackheads are quite common, although most people are neither aware of them nor able to control or prevent them. Blackheads are caused by blocking of hair follicles by sebum or dead skin cells. The oily pores get enlarged, resulting in acne when the pores are blocked fully. Whiteheads also are caused by sebum collection in the pores, except in this case sebum does not come into contact with air, so it doesn’t turn black.

For preventing blackheads, clean the skin daily with oil reducing items and ensure that there are no blackheads in the pores. After cleansing and toning the skin, apply oiliness protecting cream to protect the skin from pollutants. To extract the blackheads, go to a professional; self-extraction might damage the skin tissue, causing acne. Removal of whiteheads or blackheads is done by gentle pressing of the skin and extracting with an extractor. The skin is then wiped with a styptic lotion for closing pores.

Follow proper techniques for cleaning the pores; drink a good quantity of fresh fruit juices and water. Also eat fresh fruits. Wash your face with medicated soap and warm water. Rinse with plain water to ensure that the skin is always clean.
