Home remedies for urinary tract infection
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of the urinary tract and affects the kidney, bladder, urethra and ureters. This condition is caused by bacterial activity and can be quite painful for the sufferer. UTI is more common in women than men and is accompanied by frequent urination, pain in the lower back or abdomen, pain and burning sensation while urination, presence of blood in the urine, fatigue or fever.

You can treat a urinary tract infection at home by using some of the following home remedies.
Increase the intake of water and other fluids: This is one of the fastest and most effective remedies for combating a urinary tract infection. Drinking plenty of water and fluids in a short span of time helps ease the pain and burning sensation while urination. It also dilutes the acids present in urine and helps flush out the harmful toxins.
Baking soda: This helps maintain the balance between the acids and other bases in the body. Mix ½ tsp of baking soda in 250 ml water and take this solution as soon as you recognize the initial signs of a urinary tract infection.
Gynol Syrup is an effective herbal remedy for preventing and treating urinary tract infection (UTI). You can take 2 tsp of this syrup thrice a day for best results.
Cranberry juice: Fresh cranberry juice helps prevent and treat urinary tract infection. It obstructs the growth of bacteria clinging to the cells of the urinary tract, thereby combating infection.
Aromatherapy: Essential oils of lavender, sandalwood, tea tree, frankincense and bergamot can be mixed together and applied to the bladder to treat UTI.
Hot compress: Put a heated pad over the lower abdomen to get relief from the pain accompanying the infection.
