  • Our skin pores gather dirt from our surroundings along with oil secreted by the body. If the skin is not cleansed of these impurities, a gradual built up causes the pores to become blocked and appear as dark spots on the skin, known as blackheads. These are most prominent on the face.

Obviously, the best way to prevent the formation of such spots is to keep the skin clean and devoid of all external contaminations. Wash your face a couple of times during the day and especially at night before retiring for the evening. For best results it is recommended that slightly warm water be used.  Other remedies are listed below.

    Home remedies for blackheads

Make a face pack by dissolving a small quantity such as a gram of flour in yogurt to achieve the desired consistency. This should be applied regularly to the face, particularly on the blackheads and allowed to dry. Afterwards, wash your face with cold water.

Another face pack may be prepared by using sandalwood powder or fuller’s earth. Dissolve either of the two in rose water and apply the mixture to the skin. You can also make a face pack from the orange peels. Simply crush the dried peels and mix in water and it’s ready.

A very good concoction is a mixture of lemon juice and tomato juice. The fact that both are acidic in nature leads to a welcome reaction in the upper layer of skin, and thus helps make blackheads less conspicuous. The two should be mixed in equal proportions. Lightly rubbing cucumber peel on the face moisturizes the face while cleansing it of dirt and grime.

Honey is another natural product that can be applied to the face. It should be slightly warm when applied. Wash your face with cold water once it has dried. Another very effective cleaner is boric powder.  Dissolve the powder in hot water and wash your face with that.

Grape juice retards the secretions of oil on the skin. Its juice may be applied and allowed to remain on the skin until it dries up. The skin should then be washed with warm water. You may follow any of the above listed practices. The idea is to prevent your skin from gathering dirt and excess of oil.
