How many times in a night should we do sex?

Hi all I am totally ignorant about sexual knowledge. I had never done sexual intercourse before, but nowadays my girlfriend wants me to have sex with her. On my first night which was my first night ever, I started a bit full of tension and fall off just in 25-30 minutes, but as night grew, my time also increased. In a night I went for at least 8 times. I am confused that weather I am going on a wrong track or what? Please help me out. Even though my girlfriend seemed to be very happy I am thinking that I am not going in a proper way, so please guide me about it.
