How to get rid of cellulite?

  • Cellulite is caused by fat cells that are trapped beneath your skin surface making your skin appear bumpy and dimpled. Cellulite can appear on buttocks, thighs and sometimes on upper arms also. Even though cellulite is not a physical disorder in the strictest sense of the word, it can cause acute embarrassment and prevent you from wearing short skirts or sleeveless dresses.

    Cellulite is a very stubborn problem that once appears, refuses to go away. You can try a number of remedies to get rid of cellulite or at least to make them less visible.

    Exercising the affected area is often believed to treat cellulite effectively. Brisk walking, swimming or cycling for just half an hour everyday may benefit you a lot. Exercising ensures that your muscles get toned and as a result your skin will be more stretched, making the dimples less visible.

    Body brushing and massaging also help getting rid of cellulite. You can prepare a homemade scrub by mixing one cup of coarsely ground coffee, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of table salt or sea salt and 2 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture on affected areas and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before taking bath. Then massage gently with circular movements for 10 minutes and wash it away with warm water. You can use this mixture to scrub your whole body. However, make sure never to use it on your face.

    An underwear with tight elastic bands that restricts blood flow to the buttock area also aggravates cellulite. Try wearing loose underwear, thongs or g-strings to facilitate blood circulation.
