How to get rid of common cold?

  • Common cold is the inflammation of the upper respiratory tract and is caused by action of virus. The first symptoms of common cold are soreness of the throat accompanied by congestion of the nasal passages. It gradually affects other parts of the body and is characterized by sore throat, chill, headache, body ache, rise in body temperature, sneezing, malaise, runny nose and loss of appetite.

    Natural treatment for Common Cold:

    A cold is considered to be the body’s natural attempt at detoxification and must not be suppressed by intake of any medication. Natural remedies on the other hand can be used to relieve the symptoms of common cold.

    Vitamin C helps strengthen the immune system and speeds up the process of recovery. It is recommended to take vitamin C supplements to treat this condition and build resistance. Dietary sources of vitamin C include citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, green gram, tomatoes, oranges, papaya, green peppers, pineapples, raspberries, strawberries, winter squash etc.

    Amla or Indian Gooseberry is a rich source of vitamin C and is an effective natural remedy for treating various respiratory disorders. You can take Amla dietary supplements as vegetable capsule to prevent and treat common cold.

    Garlic soup is one of the most effective natural remedies used for treating common cold. Garlic possesses powerful antispasmodic and antiseptic properties and the oil found in garlic helps eliminate the harmful toxins from the body and brings down the body temperature.
