A peptic ulcer generally refers to an eroded lesion in the inner lining of the stomach and the adjoining intestinal tract called the duodenum. The ulcer located in located in the duodenum is called a duodenal ulcer, and that in the stomach is known as a gastric ulcer. Usually, both are ulcers are grouped together and termed as peptic ulcer.
Lime is more valuable in peptic ulcers. The citric acid in this fruit, together with the mineral salts present in the juice, beneficial in digestion.
Banana is one of the most effective remedies for the treatment of a peptic ulcer. Banana reduces the irritation of the ulcer by coating the lining of the stomach and neutralizes the over-acidity of the gastric juices. Patients who are in an advanced state of the disease should take a diet consisting only of two bananas with a glass of milk, four times a day.
An infusion of the leaves of wood apple is effective remedy for this disease. Twenty grams of leaves should be soaked overnight in 350 ml of water. In the morning this water should be strained and taken as a drink in empty stomach. The pain and discomfort will be relieved when this treatment is continued for two weeks.
Yastimadhu supplements (Licorice)
It’s most consistent and important uses are as a demulcent (soothing and coating agent) in the digestive and urinary tracts. It is therefore helpful in lungs and soothes sore throats. The demulcent and anti-ulcerogenic action of Licorice is beneficial in gastric and peptic ulcer.
Cabbage is regarded as another useful remedy for a peptic ulcer: 350 gm should be boiled in 600 ml of water till it is reduced to half; this water should be allowed to cool, and taken thrice daily. The juice extracted from raw cabbage is also a medicine for a peptic ulcer.
