How to heal a sore throat naturally?

Sore throat is caused by inflammation of the tissues lining the throat. It affects different parts of the throat such as the larynx, tonsils and pharynx and makes it very difficult for the patient to swallow anything or speak.

Natural cure for sore throat:
There are various natural remedies for treating sore throat. Some of the most common ones are:

Salt water: Using warm water with salt in it as gargle for the throat is one of the easiest and most effective natural remedies for treating sore throat. Take 1 glass warm water and add ½ tsp salt to it and gargle.

Hot drinks: Drinking hot beverages such as tea or coffee or taking hot soup at regular intervals  helps treat sore throat effectively. The hot drinks work as a compress for the inflamed tissues of the throat and provide instant relief. Remember not to add any spicy elements to your soup as it may irritate the throat.

Licorice or yastimadhu is a famous herb that is widely recommended for treating sore throat naturally. Licorice herbal dietary supplements are available in the form of vegetable capsules and can be taken to cure sore throat.

Turmeric: Take a glass of warm water and add ½ tsp salt and turmeric to it. Use this mixture twice a day as gargle to get quick relief from sore throat. Alternatively, you can add ½ tsp turmeric to hot milk and gulp it down.

Add the juice of 1 lime to a glass of hot water and sip it twice a day to get relief from sore throat. You can also add 1 tsp lime juice to 1 tsp of tulsi (holy basil) juice along with 1 tsp of honey. Take this mixture diluted with water to get quick relief from sore throat.

Garlic: Chew 3-4 cloves of garlic to cure sore throat. You can also have garlic soup to treat inflammation and throat irritation.
