How to keep your nails healthy?
Nails are one of the most beautiful features of our body and we need to maintain their attractiveness and luster by taking proper care of them. People tend to notice our nails more often than we can image and unkempt nails can certainly reflect badly on the overall personality.
Nail care is essential for beautiful hands. We keep hearing about it, but rarely follow any advice. Most women never go beyond nail enamels and nail files or show any concern for their nails. If you wish to flaunt long lasting and strong nails, you must include nail care in your daily grooming program.
Nail care tips:
Most of us tend to use our nails as tools. We end up opening soda cans and cookie tins with them and even try to unscrew nuts forgetting that we are causing much harm to our delicate nails. This can chip or break the nails and can even rip them off the finger, which can be quite painful.
It is also unwise to peel or scratch chipped nail paint, as this can result in the removal of the protective layer that covers the nail plate. If you wish to have clean, white nails, you can rub a slice of lemon under your nails and see the difference instantly!
If you have hard cuticles that fail to budge during manicures, you can use cuticle moisturizers. They soften the cuticles that have become hard and thick and help in removing them easily. Avoid using clippers for removing your cuticles as it may cause them to bleed and make them swell up. The best thing to do is push them backwards to make them less visible.
Another common and unpleasant problem faced by many women is that of ingrown nails which mostly affects the toes. It can be extremely painful when the corner of the nail digs into the soft tissue of the nail grooves resulting in redness, swelling and irritation. This condition can arise due to improperly trimmed nails or wearing ill-fitting shoes. The best cure to soothe the irritation is to soak your feet in lukewarm salt water and then apply an antiseptic and bandage the area.
