  • Diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus is a nutritional disorder characterized by abnormally high levels of serum glucose and the elimination of excessive sugar in the urine. It is considered to be a lifestyle disease caused by lack of proper exercise, overeating, excessive intake of refined cereals, sugar, proteins and fats. Factors responsible for the development of diabetes include obesity, stress, anxiety, mental tension, unhealthy lifestyle, lack of proper exercise and intake of an inappropriate diet.

    Prevent and manage diabetes naturally:

    Utmost emphasis needs to be laid on the diet of a diabetic individual. All foods containing unsaturated and trans fats and sugars should be eliminated from the diet. These include burgers, potato chips, rice, candies, cookies, cakes etc. All cooked starchy foods should be avoided as the process of cooking causes the cellulose of the starch granules to burst leading to the quicker absorption of starch in the system. This excessive starch appears as sugar in the urine. Fresh fruits and vegetables that do not contain starch and sugar but contain sugar fructose should be taken. Vegetables such as cabbage, tomatoes, turnip, asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, fenugreek, string beans, celery, cucumbers, onion and garlic are highly beneficial for the prevention and management of diabetes.

    Garlic is another nature’s gift that is highly beneficial for combating diabetes as it lowers the level of blood sugar in the body. Chewing a few cloves of garlic every morning is highly beneficial for treating diabetes.

    Bitter gourd is by far the most effective natural cure for Diabetes Mellitus. It helps lower the level of blood sugar and urine sugar. Bitter gourd should be included regularly in the diet of a diabetic individual. The juice of bitter gourd is also quite effective in lowering the level of sugar. Extract the juice of 4-5 bitter gourds and drink his every morning on an empty stomach for best results.

    Alternatively, Bitter melon dietary supplements can also be taken in the form of vegetable capsules on a daily basis to prevent and treat Diabetes Mellitus.
