  • Arthritis generally attacks people aged above fifty, who develop it because of normal degeneration of tissues around the joint due to ageing. Unfortunately, the modern urban life has contributed in many ways for this crippling disease to spread rapidly among the younger population. The continual lack of exercise, consumption of junk food, obesity and stress, these typical maladies of our modern-day sedentary lifestyle can also trigger arthritis.

However, this also means that it is possible to prevent arthritis by making some changes in your lifestyle. Remember, once you develop arthritis, it can take a long time to cure it. Even then, there is no guarantee that you will get rid of arthritis forever and that it will not recur in the future. Therefore, in case of arthritis, prevention is far better than cure.

    How you can prevent arthritis:

Arthritis may be prevented by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which consists of three basic factors – eat well, stay fit and sleep well! Avoiding junk food, exercising regularly, keeping your weight under control and getting 8 hours sleep at night are key factors in keeping arthritis at bay.

While regular exercise is beneficial for arthritis, make sure never to over-exercise or do anything that causes strain on your joints. If any exercise causes pain in the joint that refuses to go away, refrain from doing it. Avoid squatting, bending suddenly and lifting heavy things.

Try to drink plenty of water. Having 2 to 3 liters of water everyday makes sure that your body is never dehydrated and your joints are well lubricated.

Don’t forget to protect your joints in cold weather. Use warm woolen clothes to cover all joint areas as cold can cause and aggravate joint pains.

If you develop temporary joint pains or back pain, you can apply Arthcare oil on the affected area, which helps to soothe the pain to a great extent.

It is a good idea to pamper yourself with a hot shower or better still, a hot bubble bath, after a strenuous day, to relax your tired muscles.

Yoga is also an excellent way to prevent arthritis. Doing yoga regularly keeps your joints flexible. Other than this, yoga has many other long-term benefits for your overall health.
