How to prevent indigestion?

Indigestion is also known as dyspepsia and is characterized by severe pain in the upper abdomen, feeling of fullness, bloating, heartburn, belching, gastrointestinal bleeding, vomiting and nausea.  Recurrent indigestion can also be a symptom of a serious underlying disease such as gastroesophgeal reflux disease, cancer, peptic ulcer or gastritis.  Indigestion is caused due to various factors such as stress, intake of a faulty diet, excessive consumption of alcohol, intake of a high fat diet, irregular eating habits and intake of certain medications.

Prevent indigestion naturally:

Coriander juice is one of the most effective remedies for prevention and treatment of indigestion. Add 1-2 tsp of fresh coriander juice to a glass of buttermilk and drink this to treat indigestion.

Ginger tea is an excellent natural cure and preventive aid for indigestion. It helps reduce heartburn, nausea and aids digestion. Add a small piece of ginger to tea leaf and let it boil for 10 minutes. Drink for immediate relief. You can also chew a small piece of ginger root before every meal in order to enhance digestion and combat indigestion effectively.

Alternatively, you can also take Ginger or Sunthi herbal dietary supplements in capsule form to keep indigestion at bay.

Take equal amount of powdered chamomile, rosemary, ginger, fennel, turmeric, anise seeds, coriander and angelica and add them to twice the amount of mint. Soak them in a base of vodka and spring water overnight and refrigerate. Take this the following morning with juice to treat indigestion.

Add powdered cinnamon to 2 tbsp honey and take it before meals to reduce acidity and enhance digestion.

Trikatu is a natural appetizer and helps treat indigestion effectively. Take Trikatu dietary supplements in capsule form daily for best results.

Cinnamon oil is also highly effective in treating indigestion and its associated symptoms such as bloating, gas and abdominal cramps. Apply a small amount of this oil on the abdomen to get quick relief.
