How to treat a sore throat?
Sore throat is also known as pharyngitis and is a common complaint. It refers to the inflammation of the throat and is a painful situation that can make swallowing extremely difficult. Sore throat is often accompanied by cold or an attack of influenza and may even involve the tonsils and adenoids.
If you happen to have an acute sore throat, you might feel dryness in the throat followed by chills, fever and burning sensation. This may be accompanied by hoarseness of the voice or laryngitis and the lymph glands along the sides of the neck may become swollen and tender. This may be followed by a postnatal discharge due to spread of infection to the nasal passages. If the sore throat is caused by streptococcal germs then the patient might experience high fever and pain along with swelling.
