    Causes of sore throat:

Bacterial activity can cause a strep throat that is accompanied by rheumatic fever, white patches on the throat and swollen red lymph glands. Sore throat can also be caused by influenza, infectious mononucleosis, common cold, fish or chicken bones stuck in the throat, tonsillectomy, smoking, exposure to pollution and endotracheal intubation.
