  • It is indeed very difficult to cure High Blood Pressure but it can certainly be treated to keep it under control. For its treatment it’s important to realize what causes it to reach unhealthy levels.

    Causes:

    It is caused by number of factors and is usually not a consequence of one disorder. Hypertension or high blood pressure, as it is commonly known could have its causes in your diet or lifestyle.  Dietary habits, mostly as a consequence of changed lifestyle are known to cause obesity, malfunctioning of kidneys and diabetic complications. All these are contributing to the state. It is realized that heredity and age also adds to the problem.

    For effective treatment it’s important to know the cause. Once the cause is established, the treatment may be long and often calls for sincere continued efforts as its cause may keep varying too.

    Taking Control:
    It has been recorded that obese people are most prone to High Blood Pressure. Healthy ratios between age, height and weight have been defined to determine if your are obese. Controlling your diet and developing a changed lifestyle can check obesity. As far as diet is concerned, following the remedies mentioned below are almost essential:

    Limit and gradually stop taking animal fats and restrict to vegetarian food and fats. It has to be coupled with a very reduced intake of sodium in the form of common salt. Consumption of carbohydrates is to be restricted and that eliminates the consumption of most ready-to-cook or fast foods. Instead take more of fruits and salads.

    Shift to a healthier eating style. Eat slowly and take small meals and helpings, though frequency may be increased. Smoking and alcohol are unhealthy, particularly smoking leads to building of high blood pressure.

    Here’s a word of caution for those thinking on the lines of reducing weight. Please understand that weight cannot be brought down in a matter of days as claimed by all the promoters of diet plans. All those plans may offer a very temporary loss of weight that comes back to its normal value once you give up the plan. In the long run, such plans cause more harm to your body.

    A sensible and practical way to lose weight is to consult a professional for a changed diet plan to maintain the minimum required balance of all the necessary nutrients required by a healthy body. And, mind you, any diet plan has to be accompanied with an exercise regimen to make the plan really effective.
