How to treat insomnia the natural way?

Insomnia is a sleeping disorder in which the individual is unable to sleep or experiences difficulty in remaining asleep for an adequate period of time. It is caused due to stress, anxiety, mental tension, increased work pressure, intake of a faulty diet, excessive intake of caffeine and over excitement. Lack of sleep can cause a number of problems such as lack of concentration, irritability, indigestion, inability to focus and fatigue.

Natural treatment for insomnia:

Lemon balm tea is one of the best sleeping aids that can be taken to treat mild forms of insomnia. It helps soothe the mind and acts as a central nervous depressant and mild sedative, thereby inducing sleep naturally. Lemon balm contains volatile oils such as citronellal and citrals A and B that are known to posses sedative properties and are highly beneficial for relaxing the mind and inducing sleep.

Chamomile tea is widely used as a refreshing beverage in many parts of the world and aids sleep, combats restlessness and stress. Take ½ cup dried chamomile flowers and add them to a cup of boiling water. Let it simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Strain and add ½ tsp honey to sweeten it and drink while it is hot.

Brahmi or Bacopa herbal dietary supplements can be taken to treat insomnia and stress effectively. This potent herb works as a natural sedative and tranquilizing agent and is highly beneficial for treating insomnia.
