is there any treatment for Muscular Dystrophy in Ayurvedic ?
Hello,
Greetings from Ayurvediccure and thanks for your contribution. Muscular dystrophy is severe weakness where the muscles are not capable to function properly. The muscles are there to support body structures and mainly to make body capable to move from one place to another.
Muscular dystrophy, in Ayurveda, is a kind of Mamnsa Kshaya wherein the muscle tissues have lost their vitality and they are no more capable to perform their tasks. I am afraid, there is no oral remedy that can solve the problem all alone! You must undergo the combination therapy of Internal medication as well as external therapies.
I strongly suggest you to undergo what is called Ayurvedic Panchakarma. Find some authentic Panchakarma Center and have a full course of treatment. There, you require a high patience since disease like this may take quite a long period to recover.
In Panchakarma, you may be prescribed for some Oil application, kerala massage (what we call Elakizzhi and Njvarakizzhi), Pind Swed (poultice treatment) and many other Panchakarma treatments such as Basti (enema) using medicated oil or even milk.
Herbs like Shilajit and Ashwagandha have show some good assistance in getting body its original strength when consumed regularly for a longer duration.
Muscular dystrophy is a stubborn disorder and may have genetic link that again makes it bad to worse. However, with proper Ayurvedic Panchakarma and Internal medications along with Yogasanas and Pranayama may make wonders.
Regards
There is no cure for any form of muscular dystrophy some medicines, ayurvedic remedies and therapies can slow the course of the disease. Human trials of gene therapy with the dystrophin gene are on the near horizon. For instance, scientists are researching ways to insert a working dystrophin gene into the muscles of boys with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies. Panch Karma procedures are also found useful in the life term management of muscular dystrophy.
Ayurvedic researchers are investigating the potential of certain muscle-building Rasayana medicines to slow down or reverse the progression of muscular dystrophy. Other trials are looking into the effects of the dietary supplements Withania somnifera, Curcuma longa, Creatine and glutamine on muscle energy production and storage.
Symptoms of muscular dystrophy often can be relieved through exercise, Panch Karma therapy, rehabilitative devices, and Yogic respiratory care with Bhastrika Pranayama, and surgery.
* Ayurvedic Panch Karma & Yogic Support can minimize abnormal or painful positioning of the joints and may prevent or delay curvature of the spine. Respiratory care, deep breathing, and coughing exercises are often recommended.
* In Duchenne muscular dystrophy, corticosteroids may slow muscle destruction.
* In myotonic muscular dystrophy, phenytoin, procainamide or quinine can treat delayed muscle relaxation.
* In DMD, BMD and LGMD, the Mamsagni Rasayana has shown muscular protection.
Genetic counseling, prenatal diagnosis by chorionic villus sampling, and antenatal screening of families with MDs provides an opportunity to prevent these diseases being passed on to children. Ayurvedic primary intention is on treating or delaying symptoms, enhancing physical mobility and preventing cardiac and respiratory complications.
Advice and support
The Mamsagni Rasayana seems to be promising molecule. Since it was used along with Panch Karma Procedures and Yogic Support, the physiologic reasons for these important observations seem largely speculative, but “the reduction in blood CK along with improved functional neuro-muscular abilities certainly contribute to the protective effects of Mamsagni Rasayana” A more intense and focused molecular study of Til-Mash Pinda Swedana during Panch Karma procedures may also give us critical information to limit the sarcolemmal membrane defect in DMD/BMD boys.
I have found these discussion quiet positive..i believe ayurvedic treatments can fetch good results with time & has learned that it can reduce the CPK levels .i am having muscular dystrophy for the past 8-10yrs.Please excuse me for putting my personal case amidst this discussion.
I was first diagnosed with Anterior Horn cell disease(MND) & later as scapuloperoneal syndrome from NIMHANS. I have wasting of muscles in the lower leg & shoulders. i didnt venture any ayurvedic treatments so far , as no authentic centers were found due to my lack of awareness.but I would highly value an advise on the same , thanks in advance.
The diagnosis of Neuro-muscular diseases some times create confusion but you should explore ayurvedic healing potential for your personal problem. The Ayush Muscular Dystrophy Society has been active in the field of authentic Ayurvedic supportive treatment and rehabilitation since 1995. A number of families of afflicted children are registered with AMD society, which is involved in helping families with information about all aspects of NMD including Ayurvedic and other complementary medical support, physiotherapy, diet, monitoring the breathing, and updates about what is new in the form treatments that may be in the pipeline. AHCD ( anterior horn cell disease ) MND is mentioned in ayurvedic treatices.when we go through the bahu Shosha or muscular dystropy of limb, explains about the treatments and medications to be given to such patients. The medications explained are used in nervous breakdown and also decoctions will help to increase and strengthen the nervous system. Its explained in bahu shosha kalyanaka ghritham(ghee preparation) and balamoola decoction with rock salt has to be introduced internally. Externally shashtika shali pinda sweda or mamsa sweda ,with nasya karma will be helping to prevent AHCD

my sister’s son which is about 6-7 years old his CPK vale is very high about 10000 how to decrease it please send email how to control cpk value
Hello vevek
CPK or creatinine phospokinaseor or phospokinase is a enzyme which helps in converting creatinine to phosphocreatine and adenosine diphosphate with use of ATP/adenosine tri phosphate. It is generally measured in emergency situations. Increased CPK level is an indication of damage to muscle, which in turn indicates an injury, myocardial infarction, myositis, myocarditis, muscular dystrophy, malignant hyperthermia, rhabdomyolysis, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome, McLeod syndrome and hypothyroidism. So please update us about the problems faced by patient so that we can answer accordingly.
