It is commonly referred to as soft brittle bones and is marked by increased porousness of the bones. The bone tissues in osteoporosis become fragile due to excessive loss of collagen, making the bones susceptible to frequent injuries and damage. If this disorder affects the spine, it may result in permanent deformity.
