Is it true that the urgency of sex is more in females?

I have heard that women are sexually more active then men and their need for sex is also more then that of men.Is it true ? If yes then what is the reason for that? It is said that after menopause the sexual attraction of women becomes less but I have noticed that it is not the case. So please help me out to see what is true and what not.

Males and females both have their own sexual needs, desires and fantasies. These sexual needs, behaviors, fantasies, libido and sexual powers keep on changing with time and age.
