Is there any ayurvedic treatment for excessive facial hair growth in females?
Posted by usha on Thursday 23 Jul 2009
Hi to all. I am a 22 years old and I have for a very long time grown hair on my face, I am aware I have a hormone problem which means I am more inclined to excessive hair growth. I am currently taking pills to control the hair growth however on my front neck I still have dark hair growing. I would like to know if their is a ayuevedic cream that can permanently reduce my facial hairs. Please reply and let me know.
Kind regards

Hi Usha, I am in the same boat – same age and it sounds like the same problem. I have PCOS and I’ve had some success with herbs and Ayurvedic remedies, which you can try if you want.
Turmeric powder (haldi) reduces facial hair and makes it grow slower and finer. People claim that if you use it constantly over months, the hair gradually stops growing back. It is also really good for acne and oily skin.
Just mix some haldi into a little bit of milk or honey to make a *thick* paste (so it doesn’t drip as it stains clothes really badly – you should do this before you shower maybe). Add some sugar crystals as a mild exfoliant and rub the mixture over your face and any other problem areas. Leave it on for about 15 mins. and then wash it all off. You may not have to use a moisturizer after this as it conditions the skin on its own.
People say you can also use channa powder (besan) paste to stop hair growth as well, over time.
Good luck, Usha, I hope that helps.
