    Stretch the leg with cramps slowly. Massage the muscle that is cramped gently; direction of massaging should be the natural direction of the muscle. Stretch the leg muscle that is cramped and massage it as you straighten it; ensure that your toes point upwards. It is very important to do stretching exercises prior to starting your exercise routine; stretches help in relaxing of your muscles and prevent cramps.
    Relax the muscle by taking a warm bath or a hot shower to relax the contracted muscles and reduce the pain. Keep cold packs on the affected muscles. Keep a hot pack or warm towel on the affected area to reduce the pain.

    Dehydration is the main reason for getting leg cramps. Drink a lot of water to ensure that your body is well hydrated. Drink a lot of fluids before, during and after exercising. Eat foods that are rich in calcium and potassium to prevent any muscle cramps.
