Natural cure for sunburn

Sunburn results in tanning or darkening of the skin color uneven discoloration, chapped skin and formation of blisters in some cases. Individuals with fairer skin tones are more prone to getting sunburns and need to wear shades, take an umbrella or apply liberal quantities of sunscreen before stepping out in the sun.

    If you happen to be a beach freak and love lazing around in the sun you need to think twice. Excessive exposure to the sun not only causes sunburn but also results in various skin ailments such as cancer.

    Natural treatment for sunburn:

    Sandalwood is one of the best natural remedies that can help treat sunburn effectively. Applying a paste of sandalwood and rosewater helps heal sunburn quickly and has a calming effect on the skin. It also enables you to get rid of the tingling sensation caused by sunburn.

    Apply the juice of cucumber, potato and tomato mixed in equal quantities over the affected area to get speedy recovery from sunburns.

    Aloe Vera is another effective remedy for treating sunburns. It is a great sunscreen and protects the skin from the harmful ultra violet rays of the sun. Applying a paste of aloe vera before going outdoors can prevent sunburn.

    You can also take Aloe Vera supplements on a daily basis to speed up the process of healing sunburns, uneven discoloration and pigmentation.

    Using a wet compress can help heal mild sunburns. You can use the wet compress on your skin for 15-20 minutes thrice a day till your original skin color returns.

    Vitamin E is one of the best remedies for treating sunburn. You can apply vitamin E oil all over your face before going to bed in order to combat sunburns or take it in the form of dietary supplement to treat sunburn. Vitamin E-1000 supplements can be taken on a daily basis to get a glowing complexion and prevent sunburn.

    Take a handful of cabbage leaves and soak them in cold water. Apply them on the affected area to get quick relief from sunburn.

      I know this sounds completely crazy but vapor rub is not just for colds anymore!! It is the greatest relief for sunburn I know of. I work with teenage girls, who are absolutely impossible when they get burned!! We use the vapor rub on their burnt skin and it takes out the itching, burning and stiffness.
