Natural methods to reduce the effects of sunburn

Sunburn is a browning of the skin resulting from over exposure to the rays of the sun. It is accompanied with mild dizziness; fatigue and red or reddish skin that is hot to the touch. Excess of sun burn can be life threatening. Lesser amount of Ultra Violet exposure will produce a suntan.

Always take protein rich foods. Eat good quality protein foods like meat, egg, fish, chicken etc.

Eat lots of fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. They will supply enough vitamins and minerals. To keep the body hydrated and compensate for the lost fluids, drink lots of fluids in the form of water and juices. Tomato juice or fresh tomato is also useful for sunburn. Tomato is a natural antioxidant.

Apply aloevera or vinegar on the infected skin; it will stop inflammation and pain.

To take out the heat from the skin, rub mustard oil on the affected area.
Mix a pinch of baking powder to the bath water to soothe the burnt skin.

Wear good quality sunglasses and apply quality sunscreen lotion whose SPF is 30 or above while going outdoors. Do not use rough soaps instead of that use gram flour.

Include vitamin C and vitamin E in your diet. Antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin C are useful in curing sunburn.

Apply lavender oil on the area of burnt skin. Peppermint oil is also good for the burnt skin.

Apple cider vinegar is also useful for the burnt skin; apply it to the affected area with a cotton ball.

Take herbal bath in few drops of lavender oil in bath water, or with few drops of chamomile oil in the bath water.
