  • Anemia is one of the most common nutritional diseases that literally means ‘lack of blood’. It refers to a reduction in the formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin in the body. Red blood cells are the carriers of oxygen to the tissues and approximately one trillion red blood cells are formed on a daily basis in the bone marrow. Iron, proteins and vitamins such as b12 and folic acid are required for the formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin.

Anemia is characterized by fine lines of strain, premature wrinkles, pale skin tone, tired looking eyes, dizziness, fatigue, poor memory, slow healing of wounds, headaches, depression, pale fingernails, lips and ear lobes and shortness of breath. Anemia can result from reduced formation of red blood cells due to defects in the bone marrow or deficiency of iron, vitamins and protein. Excessive loss of blood due to injury, bleeding piles, heavy menstrual bleeding and hemorrhoids can also cause anemia. Stress, anxiety and depression interfere with the secretion of hydrochloric acid responsible for the digestion of iron and other nutrients and may result in anemia.

    Natural cure for anemia:
If you are looking to combat anemia effectively, you must increase your daily intake of iron. Refined foods such as white bread, polished rice, sugar and deserts should be avoided as they rob the body of iron. Wheat products, brown rice, green leafy vegetables, fruits such as cherries, apples, berries, figs, and peaches, eggs and organic meats should be included in your diet. Raisins, cheese and milk should also be included.

Beet juice is an excellent remedy for treating anemia. It is a rich source of iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sulphur, iron and vitamin B and helps in the regeneration of red blood cells and increases the body’s supply of oxygen.

Spinach abounds in vitamin K, iron, folic acid, vitamin C and calcium and helps treat anemia effectively. You can extract 1 glass juice of fresh spinach leaves and drink this on a daily basis to combat anemia quickly.

Shilajit is a powerful herb that is used to treat anemia. It increases the transportation of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium to the tissues and bones and fights fatigue. Shilajit dietary supplements are available in the form of herbal capsules and can be taken on a daily basis to treat anemia.

Vitamin B12 is also known as the red vitamin and helps in the production and regeneration of red blood cells. Increasing the intake of this vitamin helps treat anemia. Dietary sources of Vitamin B12 include organ meats, milk, peanuts, bananas, eggs, cheese, wheat germ and soy.
