Common cold is caused by viral activity and is accompanied by a feeling of soreness in the throat, congestion of the nasal channels, headache, sore throat, aches, chills, sneezing, loss of appetite, malaise, rise in body temperature and fatigue. Common cold is caused by exposure to virus, environmental toxins, weak immune system, high levels of pollution, increased toxicity in the body, allergic reactions, depression, stress, excessive smoking and extreme temperature variations.

How to deal with common cold naturally?
Fruits such as papaya, pineapple, lemon, peaches, grapes, melon, oranges, bananas and pears should be added to your daily diet.

If you are susceptible to getting common cold, you must increase your daily intake of Vitamin C. This protects the body against infection and acts as an antibiotic. Citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes and green grams are rich dietary sources of vitamin C.

Lime is rich in vitamin C, reduces the duration of cold, decreases toxicity and increases resistance. Take 1 tbsp of fresh lime juice diluted in a glass of water.  Add 1 tsp honey to it and take this mixture 2-3 times a day. This helps relieve cough and sore throat.

Tulsi or Holy Basil is one of the best remedies for treating common cold, sore, throat, cough and stress. You can add fresh Holy Basil leaves to tea or take Tulsi herbal dietary supplements on a daily basis to prevent and treat common cold.

Garlic is highly beneficial for treating common cold. It contains antiseptic as well as antispasmodic properties and helps detoxify the body and brings down fever. Having hot garlic soup is highly recommended for treating common cold.

Ginger is one of the most widely used herbs and is helpful in treating a number of ailments including common cold. Boil a small piece of ginger root in 1 cup water and sip it slowly. Alternatively, you can add ginger root to any tea and sip it for getting quick relief from common cold.
