Natural remedies for Common fever

  • Fever is a condition in which the body temperature rises beyond normal. It is accompanied by disturbances in the normal functioning of the system and is a common ailment affecting both children and adults.

    The average body temperature ranges between 98.4 degrees Fahrenheit and 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Mild fluctuations are likely to occur in the body temperature owing to various factors such as intake of certain foods, exercise and variations in atmospheric temperature. The device used for measuring body temperature is known as a clinical thermometer.

    Common fever begins with  slight shivering, body ache, headache, thirst and lassitude. The urine is scanty and may be accompanied by constipation, profuse sweating, increased pulse rate, nausea and vomiting. The main cause of all fevers is the accumulation of toxic substances in the body that can result in various types of fevers. Various factors such as intake of a faulty diet, poor immune system, unhygienic living conditions and germ infection can also cause common fever.

    Natural treatment for common fever:
    It is important for one to let the fever run its natural course as it is the body’s natural means of detoxifying itself.

    Holy Basil or Tulsi is one of the most effective natural remedies for treating common fever. Take about 12 gm Tulsi leaves and boil them with ½ liter water. Take them with milk, sugar and powdered cardamom. This helps bring down fever effectively.

    Fenugreek seeds are also highly beneficial for treating common fever. Make tea from fenugreek seeds and drink this twice a day to combat this condition. Fenugreek is considered to be equivalent to quinine and helps lower the body temperature and dissolves the sticky substances such as mucus that are a by-product of fever.

    Guduchi Satva or Tinospora Cordifolia is an effective herbal remedy that helps strengthen the immune system and combats common fever and cold effectively. It is recommended to take Guduchi herbal dietary supplements in the form of vegetable capsules on a daily basis for treating fever and safeguarding the body against various illnesses.

    Ginger is one of the most effective natural cures for common fever.  Take 1 tbsp ginger root and ground it coarsely. Add this to boiling water along with 1 tbsp raisins. Boil in water for 15-20 minutes and drink this thrice a day to bring down fever.
