Natural remedies for coping with gout
Gout is the recurrent inflammation and swelling of the joints that primarily tends to affect the big toe and injured joints. This troublesome disease is chronic in nature but breaks out in acute attacks accompanied by severe pain in the big toe that becomes tender and swollen within a few hours. An individual susceptible to getting acute gout attacks must avoid all foods containing purine and uric acid such as meat products, fish eggs, tea coffee, sugar, alcohol, canned, processed and spicy foods.
Cherry is considered to be one of the best natural cures for managing gout. Taking 15 to 25 cherries on a daily basis prevents the recurrence of gout attacks.
Ginger is an effective natural remedy used for treating a number of ailments, including gout. Add a small amount of ground ginger to warm water and soak the affected joint in this for about half an hour.
Shallaki or Boswellia is an excellent herbal remedy for combating the ailments of the joints. It helps remove pain, stiffness and tenderness of the joints and can be taken in the form of herbal dietary supplements on a daily basis.
Potassium rich foods such as potatoes, bananas, green leafy vegetables and beans help safeguard the body against gout.
Cabbage leaves contain an enzyme that helps in the elimination of the needle-like crystals formed around the joints. Take some chilled or frozen cabbage leaves and place the on the affected area during an acute attack of gout. This helps reduce inflammation and swelling.

Celery seeds are also quite effective in treating and managing gout. Take a few celery seeds and add them to boiling water. Let them simmer on low flame until they become tender. Strain the infusion and drink 2-3 times a day. This helps in the excretion of uric acid and helps combat inflammation and swelling of the joints.
