It is normal for one to shed around 100 strands of hair everyday, but when one begins experiencing excessive hair loss it is a matter of worry and may indicate a serious underlying disorder. Various causes of hair loss include increased levels of stress, intake of an inappropriate diet, dietary deficiency, hormonal imbalance, intake of certain medicines, using too many harsh chemicals for treating the hair, chemotherapy and hereditary factors.

The first signs of hair loss are manifested as finding bunches of hair strands in the wash basin, on the clothes and on the bathroom floor.
