  • A vaginal infection involving increased candida fungus is very common to women and is called a yeast infection. Normally, the fungus is kept in check by the naturally-occurring acidity of the vagina but when the fungus increases, for one reason or another, it turns into a yeast infection.

    Who gets yeast infections?
Yeast infections most often occur during the menstrual cycle or during pregnancy.  Diabetic patients frequently get them, as do women taking birth control medication.

    Home remedies for Yeast infections
There are several methods you can use to prevent yeast infections (or to get control of them once they occur).

Mix two cups of water and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar – add a garlic clove to the mixture – use the resulting mixture as a douche; use garlic cloves to make a paste – apply on vaginal area – this may cause a slight burning sensation but will provide relief from the infection; mix 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in warm bath water – soak in water for 15 minutes – after constant exposure of vagina area to this water, be sure to towel dry the area well.

Cover 1 tampon with a solution of potassium sorbate – insert into the vagina to provide relief; apply 2 or 3 drops of tea tree oil onto 1 tampon – place into the vagina and leave for a few hours; place 2 boric acid capsules or tablets into the vagina for relief; cover tampon with yogurt and place in the vagina – perform this process twice a day.

    Helpful Tips
Include plenty of Vitamin C in your diet (eat lots of fruits and drink fruit juices); wear only loose-fitting, cotton undergarments to keep vaginal area dry – never wear tight undergarments, especially when sleeping; practice good hygiene as a preventive measure against yeast infections.

Always use sanitary pads during menstrual cycle (not cloth pads); if undergarments should become wet for any reason, change them so that the vaginal area will remain clean and dry at all times; do not use scented soaps or deodorant products on the vagina; use mild detergent products when washing your undergarments.
