Natural treatment for boils
Boils are also known as furuncles and are tender swellings in the skin marked by large red areas. They are caused by infection in the sweat glands or hair follicles and are more common during the summers. In chronic cases boils can develop into abscesses causing a great deal of agony to the sufferer.
Boils can occur on any part of the body but are most common on the face, eyelids, neck, upper back, thighs, shoulders, stomach and hips. A boil initially presents itself as a painful red nodule that eventually grows bigger and has pus accumulated in it. Boils are accompanied by itching and cause a lot of irritation. You can have a single boil or multiple boils at one point of time. Individual boils can come together and form an interconnected network of boils known as carbuncles.
Boils are caused by the action of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that enter the sweat glands or hair follicles through the skin. Boils are also formed due to increased levels of toxicity in the blood stream due to intake of a faulty diet and improper elimination of waste from the body. Individuals with a weak immune system, diabetes, poor hygiene or dietary deficiencies are also susceptible to developing boils.
In order to prevent the occurrence of boils a thorough cleansing of the entire system in required. Take an all fruit juice diet for 2-3 days and avoid the intake of tea, coffee, fermented and processed foods.
Apply the juice of garlic externally on the boil to ripen it and break it. This helps drain out the pus, thereby fastening the healing process. You can add equal quantities of onion juice to this for best results.
Khadir or Acacia Catechu is one of the best herbs for treating boils. It is a potent blood purifier and helps heal the boils from within. You can take Khadir herbal dietary supplements on a daily basis to prevent and treat various skin ailments including boils.
Take 1 cup fresh bitter gourd juice and add 1 tsp lime juice to it. Drink this on an empty stomach every morning for treating boils.
Apply turmeric powder to boils to speed up the process of recovery. Roast a few dried roots of turmeric and dissolve the ash in water. Apply this solution over fresh boils. This helps them ripen and burst, thereby draining out the pus.
