Pneumonia diet

At the beginning of the treatment the patient should be kept on a diet of raw juices for one weak, depending on the severity of the disease.  He should take a glass of vegetable or fruit juice diluted with warm water, every two to three hours. After a diet of raw juices, when the fever subsides, the patient must spend three to four days on an exclusive fresh fruit diet, comprising of three meals a day of juicy fruits. Thereafter, the patient may gradually adopt a well-balanced diet of natural foods, with emphasis on raw vegetables and fresh fruits.

The patient should be given a warm-water enema daily to cleanse the bowels during the time of raw juice diet and the all-fruit diet and thereafter when necessary. Avoid refined foods, white flour, smoking, alcohol, all meats, condiments, tea, coffee and sugar and fried foods.

Herbal tea made from fenugreek seeds is useful during early acute stages of pneumonia. It dispels toxin, develops perspiration and reduces the duration of fever. At first take daily up to 4 cups, quantity should be reduced as condition improves.

Sesame seeds are effective remedy. An infusion of the seeds mixed with one tablespoon of linseed, a desert-spoon of honey and a pinch of salt expel phlegm and catarrhal matter.

Garlic reduces temperature, pulse rate and respiration within 48 hours. Extract of the crushed garlic juice can be applied to the chest for better relief.

Rub turpentine oil over ribcage and cover it with a woolen cloth to relieve pain associated with pneumonia.

A quarter teaspoon of Arm and Hammer baking soda in a half cup of warm water take it a couple times in a day.
