Potassium deficiency problems
Potassium is yet another mineral which is necessary for our body. It should be available in 5% of the total minerals in our body. This much amount of potassium is necessary for body to act normally and remain mentally healthy. Both inner as well as outer cells of our body contain potassium.
Other minerals available in our body are calcium, sodium and chloride. They should all be present in our body, along with potassium for healthy functioning of all the organs. Even a slight deficiency of any of the minerals in our body can lead to disorder of any of the body parts.
Potassium is also helpful in providing energy to our body. As it helps to convert glucose into glycogen thus it is very helpful for proper functioning of many organs like nervous system and digestive systems. Its main work is to throw out sodium and decrease fluids in our body.
It is quite a helpful mineral in treating disorder like allergies, stone in kidney, burns, allergies etc. and also helps in maintaining optimum blood pressure. It helps in balancing our sugar so that we are not prone to diabetes. If this important mineral in not available in proper level then it causes weakness in bone and muscle, problem in heartbeats, fatigue etc. It leads to increase in acid level of our body which can further lead to other malfunctioning of our body.
Inadequate amount of potassium in our body can also lead to heart attack. There are various medicines available in the market to increase the level of potassium in our body but if we rely on them for a long time they can cause to other health complications.
Regular smoking, intake of alcohol leads to increase potassium in our body. Those who are consuming contraceptive pills should also take potassium to keep it to correct level. Intake of raw fruits and vegetables are quite helpful to maintain potassium level to correct level. If you think the potassium level is too low then it’s advisable to take advice of doctor.
