Prevention and treatment of Diarrhea

Diarrhea is also known as loose motion and is one of the most common diseases of the digestive tract. It is characterized by three or more watery or loose stools.  The intestine receives more than 10 liters of water on a daily basis from the stomach, liver, pancreas and dietary sources. In diarrhea, the water is either not absorbed or is secreted in excess by the body organs.

Diarrhea is caused by various factors such as eating stale food, overeating, putrefaction in the intestinal tract, fermentation due to incomplete digestion of carbohydrates, eating improperly cooked foods, excessive use of purgatives, and intake of certain medications. Diarrhea can also be caused due to invasion of germs, viruses, bacteria and parasites or the entry of a poisonous substance in the body through air, water or food. Allergies to certain foods such as eggs, milk, wheat or seafood can also cause diarrhea.

Natural treatment for diarrhea:

Carrot soup is one of the best natural remedies for diarrhea. It Supplies water to fight dehydration, replenishes the reserves of various nutrients in the body such as sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur and magnesium. It also supplies pectin and coats the intestines, thereby treating inflammation.

Pomegranate is known for its astringent properties and is an effective natural cure for diarrhea. You can take it in the raw form of extract 1 glass fresh pomegranate juice and take this on a daily basis for preventing and treating diarrhea effectively.

Kutaj or Holarrhena antidysentrica is a valuable herb used for the prevention and treatment of diarrhea. It is recommended to take Kutaj  dietary supplement in the form of herbal capsules for best results.

Dried mango seeds are also highly beneficial for treating diarrhea. Take 1 1/2 -2 gm mango seed powder and give to the patient along with water to stop diarrhea.
