Inside the lower corner of the human abdomen is the appendix. It is actually a section of the large intestine and is cylindrical in shape. When the appendix lumen gets seriously obstructed the appendix gets inflamed and this condition is referred to as appendicitis. Those between 10 and 30 years of age seem to be more susceptible to this ailment. Symptoms are often unbearable shooting pains in the lower right abdomen.

After the condition has passed a certain stage, the only solution is to extract the appendix by surgery. On the other hand if caught in time, it could be treated by natural methods and rectified at home. Here are the different options available.

Remedial action at Home for Appendicitis

A 100 ml each of carrot, cucumber and beet juice blended together could be termed as the best remedy in the treatment of appendicitis at home. This juice should be taken as much as two or three times every day. Buttermilk is said to be able to cure the chronic form of appendicitis. Drink a litre of buttermilk daily over a period of two weeks.

Another natural method is to put in a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a litre of water and boil. Strain and drink while yet warm, but not hot. Green gram is also effective in curing appendicitis. A teaspoon of green gram sprouts two or three times daily will have a goof effect. Incorporate juices such as coriander, radish and spinach in your habitual diet to treat appendicitis.

Those who have developed a fever with the condition should drink a decoction of basil leaves brewed in boiling water. After it has been kept standing for about 5 minutes, strain and drink. Appendicitis which is causing nausea and vomiting can be treated with ginger. You can have a teaspoon of ginger with rock salt to drink. Cut pieces of raw ginger stored in a bottle with rock salt can be eaten with meals. Raw or powdered turmeric and ginger together are an effective treatment for appendicitis. It helps reduce the swelling and pain caused by the condition.
