Should you Add Supplements to your Bodybuilding Routine?

  • People used to be satisfied with just exercising.  It made them look and feel better.  Now people are going crazy with their workout plans by adding bodybuilding supplements to their daily routine.  People’s standards have changed.  Men now have to look Herculean in size and women have to be compact in stature. 

    To achieve these looks, the body building phenomenon has taken off.  And it seems that in conjunction with bodybuilding is the use of supplements.  Everywhere you look, there are stories about steroids users.  Many athletic people are getting caught using steroids just to bulk up.  The steroids that they are using are not safe supplements and can do damage to their bodies in the long run.  Steroids can cause heart problems, cancer and the oh-so-famous “roid rage”.  “Roid rage” happens when the user is suddenly overcome with anger.  It can be quite dangerous to anyone who is around them.

    At one time, the body building supplements on the market were thought to be safe and legal.  They were used to build muscle mass and increase athletic performance.  One of the most famous body building supplements was known as androstenetrione, or andro.  Andro was taken to increase muscle mass and enhance performance by increasing the amount of testosterone the body produced.

    The supplement never lived up to its promises and is now instead considered an illegal steroid.  Andro has been linked to shrunken testicles, the development of breasts and a lower sperm count in men.  Women who took andro gained more masculine qualities such as baldness or a deeper voice.  Both men and women who took andro were susceptible to having a stroke.

    While it may seem like a good idea to take a body building supplement for a quick boost, you had better think twice.  Nothing beats good old exercise.  You may not be able to get as huge as you want to but at least you won’t be putting your health and body at risk.  Just exercise within your means and set practical goals for yourself.  You don’t have to look like the Incredible Hulk to attract the opposite sex.
