Symptoms and treatment for gastritis

Gastritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and can result in various complications, including ulcers, if left untreated. Constipation tends to aggravate gastritis and should be prevented.

Gastritis is caused by various factors such as overeating, consuming partially cooked foods, excessive intake of tea, coffee or alcohol, eating spicy, fried or sugary foods and use of certain medicines. Certain diseases such as influenza, diphtheria, measles, pneumonia and tension can also result in this condition.

Symptoms of gastritis:

Gastritis is characterized by loss of appetite, headache, nausea, vomiting and vertigo. Other symptoms include pain in the stomach, feeling of undue fullness in the abdomen and heartburn. Chronic gastritis can also result in weight loss, anemia and hemorrhage in the stomach.

Natural cure for gastritis:

Diet: Treatment for gastritis is aimed at the elimination of toxic substances from the digestive tract. Intake of fresh fruits and vegetables is extremely beneficial for treating gastritis. Oranges, pineapples, peaches, melons, grapes, papaya, apples and pears are recommended for treating this condition. Alcohol, acidic beverages, smoking, coffee, tea and fruit juices containing citric acid should be avoided.

Juice: Carrot juice in combination with spinach juice is also quite effective in combating gastritis. Take about 300 ml of fresh carrot juice and mix it with 200 ml spinach juice. Take this once a day for preventing and treating gastritis.

Coconut water: Tender coconut water is also valuable for treating gastritis. It not only gives rest to the stomach but also supplies nutrition to the body. If coconut water is given during the first 24 hours of an attack of gastritis, it helps the stomach return to its normal condition.

Calendula: Also known as marigold, this herb is a popular remedy that has been found highly beneficial for treating gastritis. Take about ¼ cup of dried calendula flowers and steep them in 1 cup boiling water for about 15 minutes. Take about 1 tbsp of this infusion twice a day to cure gastritis.
